I read about warm fuzzies in a book about transactional analysis, a school of psychotherapy (the ones of I'm ok you're ok).

Is this a reference to them?

I can see the idea being relevant to transactional analysis! It's usually used for a feeling of happiness or affection brought on by the affection of someone else.
